Dear Parents,
It’s been a busy, hot week, but we have managed to stay cool in spite of the weather. The kindergarten class enjoyed quiet story time outside under the shady tree, and we walked on the cool nature trail looking for morel mushrooms (we found one!).
On Wednesday morning we all enjoyed being out of the heat, and bowling with our big pals at Crown Lanes. Everyone had a terrific time, and I must say that there are some budding bowlers out there! All the children had success, so don’t be surprised if you hear, “Can we go bowling?” sometime soon!
We have been reading several chicken and egg books during the week, and learned about the development of a chick and the parts of the egg. We cracked open fresh eggs, and found the yolk, albumen, membrane, egg cell, air sac and chalazae. Try breaking open an egg on a plate at home and have your child point out these parts to you.
The chicks should be hatching out in five days, and we are crossing our fingers for success. Let me know if you are interested in taking chicks home.
It’s been nice to meet with everyone during this conference time. If you were unable to come at your scheduled time, we will try to reschedule before school is out. Also, if you feel your time was up too soon and there was more you needed to discuss, let me know! We will work something out.
Enjoy the weekend,
Sarah
