Dear Peacham families and friends,
It’s strange to think that we are already into our 4th month of school. As we head towards the holiday break I would appreciate your feedback on how you think things are going here at Peacham Elementary. I have developed and begun circulating a simple survey to see how we are doing.
Please take less than 5 minutes to tell me what you think. Comments are especially helpful in this anonymous survey. Here’s the online survey link.
Paper surveys are also available at the school and Post Office if you prefer a hard copy. Please complete all surveys by Wednesday, Dec. 11 so I can share results at the next Board Meeting that evening at 6pm. Completed paper copies can be left at school.
Speaking of the next Board Meeting this next Wednesday, we will be discussing the 2.0 version of the 2014-15 PES Draft Budget. This is the time to make your voices heard about programming and services you want for your children. So far, public input and attendance at these meetings has been slim. Don’t wait to get involved.
Did you know our Community Sing has expanded to an impromptu instrumental improv session? This week we had an accordion, a ukulele, and guitar accompanying Jingle Bells in French. What other school can boast that?!
Cheers to all,
Judy Ross, Principal
PE Ski Program:
Dates are confirmed for our Friday winter PE Ski Program at Burke Mountain. They are: Jan. 17, 24, 31, and Feb 7. A make-up day of Feb. 14 is scheduled if needed. Please see chaperone form if you are interested. Remember that Ms. Ostrander is still offering to collece and re-distribute winter outdoor gear that your children have outgrown. Skates, ski, snowshoes, and helmets will find good homes.
Congratulations, Ms. Kolling!
Peacham Elementary School’s K-1 teacher, Brandy Kolling, was honored recently at a ceremony at the University of Vermont as an Outstanding Vermont Teacher of the Year for 2012-2013. Here’s an excerpt from the program shared with attendees from districts all over the state:
Peacham is very lucky to employ excellent teachers and support staff. Brandy’s success symbolizes the result of a strong team supporting each other.
The 21st Century Program is Under Way
This enriching experience is open to all grades from 3:00 pm - 5:30 pm with a program designed to allow our children to explore their personal interests as well as develop some new ones. Led by Gretchen Bennett, our 21C Site Coordinator, and Alice Ruffner, her assistant, the program offer a variety of activities presented with the help of local volunteers and Peacham teachers who will share their expertise with our children. If you are interested in more information for your child or as a potential presenter, contact Gretchen.
