Principal's Letter ~ 8/12/14

Dear Peacham School families and friends,

Dear friends and families of Peacham Elementaty School,

Please join us at our school on the evening of Friday, Aug. 22, from 5:30-7:00pm to welcome each other back to our new year of growth and learning together.

As is traditional, this is a pot-luck event that gives folks a chance to show off the bounty of their gardens, their ovens, or their shopping expertise :-)  We'll supply drinks and paper plates, cups, and utensils.

In turn, you'll have a chance to meet our new staff and see what a terrific job Cheryl has done to prepare our building for our children and community.

Join me on the 22nd in welcoming these new people to our staff:

ART Teacher: Ruth Kaldor
1-2 Teacher: Kelly Youngberg
Technology Integration/Library-Media/Student Support Person:  Jen Williams

Rounding out the staff are our veterans:
PK-K Teacher: Sarah Parker
3-6 STEM Teacher:  Hanna Galinat
3-6 Humanities Teacher: Janice Brisco
Nurse: Linda Hoffmann
Admin Assistant: Shirley Ryan
Food Service Manager: Alice Ruffner
Guidance Counselor: Rose Sheehan
French Teacher: Mary Cobb
Music Teacher: Kevin Colosa
Physical Education Teacher: Gina Ostrander
Facilities Manager and Paraeducator: Cheryl Stevenson
Principal: Judy Ross

I hope to see many of you next Friday at 5:30.  For further planning, attached is a copy of our approved school year calendar.  (Print and tape to the refrigerator now while you're thinking about it.)

As always, you can certainly call or email me directly with constructive concerns or brilliant ideas.  We're going to have another great year together heading in the right direct

Cheers to all,    Judy Ross

Summer 21C Extended Learning Program:

Our five week summer program will be offered beginning July 7 and run until August 8, from 8:30AM – 4:00PM. at the Barnet School, for Barnet and Peacham students; and at the Danville School, for Danville and Walden students. Ongoing daily activities for the five weeks will include fun in the flower and vegetable gardens, a  variety of art and crafts, cooking yumminess in the kitchen, board and outdoor team games, taking a look and listen out on the nature trails, and staying cool with yoga.  Field trips will find us exploring the lakes, pond and rivers, visiting local mills and other historic sites, and having a great time in such special places as the Montshire Museum.  We are currently scheduling two weeks of swimming lessons which will give us the chance to get away, get wet, and cool off.

Bus service between 8:00AM – 8:30AM will gather students in Peacham and Walden for delivery at the Barnet and Danville Schools.  Afternoon bus service will pick up at each school and return Peacham and Walden students to their point of origin between 3:30PM – 4:00PM (locations not yet identified).  A healthy lunch and snack will be provided.  Choice of activities and registration information will be sent home with students prior to the spring break.

Check out Peacham's 21st Century Program on Facebook.
